Government Polytechnic Sheikhpura is a full-fledged Government institution under the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education (DSTTE), Government of Bihar, and functions in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the department. In academic and related areas, the institute actively participates in the decisions, recommendations, and initiatives of national and state-level apex bodies such as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), and the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE). These associations ensure continuous innovation and improvement in both pedagogical and practical aspects of technical education.

The administration and management of the institute are oriented towards achieving these objectives. The Principal is the overall in-charge of all academic, administrative, and developmental activities of the institute. For the smooth functioning of the institute and to ensure efficient administration, various service departments and committees function under the guidance and supervision of competent faculty members.
